We had a really interesting field trip! The team met at the Vega's, where we did numerous team challenges with horses. First, all the team members joined hands and tried to put a pad and bereback saddle onto the horse. There were two "hands" on  the outside and three "brains" in the middle. But, the "brains" couldn't act and the "hands" couldn't think. It was hard!

Then, we had to herd the horses into a corner of the arena, without touching them or the halter. This was related to our project because the horses represented information flowing to EARTH from all the different sources(CALFire, KAHI, Auburn Journal..).

Then, the team had to build an obstacle course and lead the horses through it, without touching them or the halters. I especially liked this challenge because

a) We had an idea of the problems since we created them ourselves, and

b) Things seemed to be going great, and then the horse would balk and stop.

This was also related to our solution because there are going to be a lot of problems with EARTH, just like the obstacles that the horses faced.

At the end, we tried to make the horses move around the arena, but only on the outside. It took several tries for this to work properly!

Thank you Mrs. Vega!
