This is the Engineering and Event Blog that is maintained by the team. After each meeting one or more of the team members writes up what we did and what they enjoyed obout the meetings.

Mission Models and Mat are here!

We built all of the mission models and looked at the mat to see where they went.  Then the programmers talked with Matthew about the types of programming and line following that we are planning to use. This year looks to be very interesting!

Andrew

Hello! My name is Andrew and I was on the team last year and I was very lucky to get on the team again. I am obsessed with Narnia and I love to read, play the piano, shoot my bow, and have fun. I am also a member of Gold Country 4-H. My favorite authors are C.S. Lewis and Edith Nesbit. I enjoy acting English and Australian. On the team I am mostly a progammer.

I am very excited about a new FLL year.

Monday's Meeting

At the last meeting, we arrived and set up our new mat and mission models. We put them in the spots we guessed they would go. Then we looked at what we thought might have to happen. We strategized about our robot and programming. It was a great meeting.

Monday Meeting

This Monday we got the mission models and mat, so we started the meeting with building all the models.  The new mat looks very neat, with lots of opportunities to try new programming and building techniques.  After lunch, we started strategizing ideas for the coming year.  We came up with some neat ideas, and started to figure out the best way to do things.

First "Official" meeting of the year!

Monday we had our first meeting of the year.  We started by splitting the programmers and the builders up, and each do seperate things.  The builders started with the challenge of making a robot that had one tread, one motor, and could support the nxt brain.  Each team of builders had 45 minutes to create their robot, and present it for judging.  It was judged on how straight it was, how solidly it was built, and of course the famous "drop test".  After that, we had a teamwork challenge, and had lunch.  Once that was over, we went back inside, and continued working on our robots.  The next challenge was to make a arm on your robot that could pick up a wheel.

It was great first meeting, with a great new member!! (Owen)
