This is the Engineering and Event Blog that is maintained by the team. After each meeting one or more of the team members writes up what we did and what they enjoyed obout the meetings.

The meeting on 10/12

Today was a good meeting. First when I got there I started stratagizing on how to pick up the loops. I thought of some Ideas but none of them really worked out. After that we talked about some cool ideas for our presentation. Then Faith, Aydan and I went over the rough draft of the script while everyone else worked on the flow chart for our idea. We all did great so we got to eat a treat of chocolate dipped things. I think this was a great meeting.

The Meeting (10/12/09)

At this meeting Faith and I programmed a ton! We were supposed to work on the table, but we got side tracked working on smooth line following.

After lunch, we worked on the presentation, and I started designing a new logo for this year. We also worked on our presentation skit. To finish off our meeting, we had strawberries with chocolate, and cookies, brought by the Drew and Faith. It was a very busy meeting!

Lego Guard meeting on 10/12/09

We began our meeting by working on the table. Andrew and I started programming one of the missions to pick up four of the loops. It was challenging! We also built a really good line follow program. Some of the builders worked on a new robot, and others built arms and attachments for the missions.

Then, after lunch, we had a round table and talked about our goals for competition. After that, the team broke up into different groups. Some worked on a flow chart and website design, while my group talked about the script, slideshow and props. Our presentation is going great!

Monday, October 12

   Monday, October 12

Today we started working on the table first.   The “programmers” have the first program done and are working on the second one!   The builders built a loop catcher and a template   for the robot.    Then we had lunch, worked on our project and rehearsed our skit.

Monday meeting

On monday, we started the meeting with a round table as usual, and went over our homework from the last week.  For the first half of the meeting, we worked on robot and programming.  I did a bit with the robot, than worked on starting a new robot,  After lunch, we started on presentation.  We split up into the same groups as last time, and our group continued to work on the flow chart, and web design.  It was a good meeting!

Monday Meeting

On Monday, we started with strategy, than moved on to robot and programming.  I started working on Evo 2; I built a different chassis design than before, and re desiegned the connections to the brain.  The new robot is very sturdy so far, and now I am on to building the main arm.  We also did a teamwork challenge, where you would have to direct your team member with a clicker, so whenever they turned in the right directing click, etc.  As Drew said, it was a very productive meeting!

The team meeting on 10/05/09

Our meeting started off with everyone working on different aspects of the table and robot. Andrew was sick today, so I was the only programmer there. I programmed and finished one of the missions today!! It has a few problems. but I wlll smooth those out at our next meeting.

After a while, we had lunch, then switched gears and worked on our project presentation. All the pieces have fallen into place! We wrote a rough draft of the script and asigned characters, as well as creating a flow chart of our software interface, EARTH.

At the end of the meeting we doid a great team challenge using clicker-training. One of the team mebers was the "trainer", and another was the "dog". The "trainer" used a clicker to indicate when the "dog" was doing sometthing right. This continued until the "dog" completed a task.

This was a great meeting, and we got a lot accomplished. I can't wait for competition!

The Meeting on 10/5/09

Today was a very productive day. I think the most productive part was the presentation. We almost got the whole thing finished. I think it will look really cool. I think the robot is turning out great. We also made some cool arms. Thanks coach and mentors for the productive meeting.

9/28/09

when we all got to the meeting, bobby and I started on a bridge for the dinanamometer. then we all had lunch with merlin(heidi`s turtle), defined our idea and came up with an idea for our presention. then Cris bought us all root beer floats!!!!

Monday's Meeting ( 9/28/09)

Today's meeting was, really, playing at working at learning, although the work wasn't all work! Drew , Faith and Al were all on vacation, so it was an extremely quiet meeting. Mr. Collins and I worked most of the day on a line following program with tons of variables. We stuffed it into a My-Block but found several problems with it that we had to fix.

We worked on our project later and thought about a layout for presenting. We settled upon a skit kind of presentation. Then we finished off our meeting with root-beer floats and ice cream. A great conclusion to a great meeting!
