This is the Engineering and Event Blog that is maintained by the team. After each meeting one or more of the team members writes up what we did and what they enjoyed obout the meetings.

District competition

Our first table run was not our best but anything that can will go wrong and it did but each time we practiced we got better and the second time it was better but I thought we had enough time to do a mission again but I was wrong and we ran out of time i then realized we have to do the last mission and the third run was almost perfect but the last mission messed up a little and we got 370 so that was good enough now were just got fix some little things and we should be good.

Team meeting on 11-16-09

Wow! Andrew and I really went a little crazy today. We learned all about a new kind of line following. It works REALLY well! We also talked about our competition and future goals. Then, we strategized missions some new ways. I am really excited!

The Lego Guards at District Qualifying Competition!

The competition was really great! All our hard work and extra hours spent working (especially on the table) have paid off! We spent a ton of time at competition practicing our GP and working as a team to be nice and polite to our competitors. Our first few table runs failed, like really, really failed. But on our next run, we got a 370 out of a 400 point perfect score! Which, by the way, won us the first place table score. We also reviewed our other judging sessions and did well in those too. We won first place Robot Design and Engineering! And, to top it all off, the Lego Guards are advancing to the next level of competition! What an awesome day and a really great learning experience!

District Qualifying Competition

This Sunday was the District Qualifying Competition at Sierra Hills School.  It was a good competition, I saw lots of good ideas and good teams.  We were one of the 5 teams to go on to regional competition.  Great job team!

Monday Meeting

This monday we talked about how we did at the competition, and talked about how to get 400 10 out of 10 times.  I started on a new robot, and got the base done.  This robot has a different wheel base system, and is a lot stronger.  I also thought of some ways to make the robot shorter and narrower.  It was a good meeting, and I am exited to be going on to regional competition!

the new jig

today i mad my jig way difrent i put a nuther siser arm on it and neer the end of the meding we got the smooth line folowing dun then i ript of the other siser arm off.

Wonderful Day! (11/11/09)

Today I came and worked on the terrible Mission Two. ( I have spent 30+ hours on it!) I changed tons of it  so it works every time now. We test ran it several times and it was wonderful!

Then Bobby and Faith came over to practice table runs now that all the missions were done (except for tweaking). After some more tweaking, namely, speeding the missions up, we got to see the outcome. The first table run got 295, surprising to me for our first table run! Then, out of the next four runs, We got 400 twice!!!! We screamed, jumped, and had champagne (Martinelli's Cider). What an amazing day!

The Meeting on 11/9/09

Today was a great meeting. First when we got there we started doing some programing until the rest of the team arived, then we did a presentation run through. After that we filmed it for Youtube. It worked out really good. then we did some more missions. Faith got her`s done. It works really good. I think this was a very productive meeting.

Lego Guards on 11-09-09

Today's meeting was started with Presentation. We did a few timed practices with input from Coach Heidi and Mentor Alan. Then we got down to work: filming our presentation for the Lego Guard page on YouTube. It was a bit tricky, but will be well worth it when the final editing and effects are done.

Andrew and I also did quite a bit of work on the table while the rest of the team was drilled by two of the Techno Guards on their Project and theirTeamwork judging. However, I had made the mistake of saving all the programs to different folders, so I couldn't find what I needed to work on. So, I had to "pay the price for my folly", and re-write my program. It worked even better then before! Yes!

Meeting on Friday 11-06-09

We had another good meeting today. The whole team is putting in lots of extra time in order to get everything ready for the District Competition. We started the meeting with our Presentation and reviewed the script with our mentor Karl. Then, the team did a few run-throughs. After that, our mentor Alan helped us with the table. He had gotten back from Australia about an hour before the meeting started. He walked in the door and started helping right away. With his expert guidance, us programmers revised the smooth line follow and made it much better. Yay!
